Argh!

So I'm sure everyone's heard by now that Mischa Barton got arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or..oh who actually cares!
It's time these stupid little actresses/socialites/people-who-do-practically-nothing-to-deserve-recognition grew up and realised that breaking the law is NOT in ANY WAY cool and shouldn't be used as a way to get publicity.
I can't help but be EXTREMELY cynical about Barton's arrest as up until now she's been seen as extremely clean cut compared to many of her peers, and this just happens to coincide with a recent loss of interest in her due to the fact that a) she doesn't do anything apart from advertise shoes, and b) she's been dressing quite badly lately.
It both angers and saddens me that it is probably true that most young people today, (probably including a great many of my friends, I am sad to say) will probably care more about Mischa's arrest than the shocking assassination of Benazir Bhutto, if indeed they have heard about her death at all.
I'm sorry to rant, but I am getting very very fed up with the "Cult of Celebrity" we have today. I'm not having a go at people for being interested in celebrities, I just think celebrity culture has gone too far, is it really important to know every single little detail of every single celebrity's life? I can't comprehend how some people can care about Posh Spice's new haircut but not give a single thought to issues such as the state of international relations. I have heard many people dismiss politics as "boring" and say they're "not interested", despite politics being something that affects us all, whether we're interested or not!

  1. YES! I agree about the socialites doing nothing. And still being recognized for doing nothing. It's appaling...but sometimes I still read Perez Hilton. Don't tell.

  2. Seee, that's why she's dressing and looking so badly lately! Poor thing. It happens so much to young celebs, that I think: is being a celeb a job cut out for you? Well apparently not for Mischa, Lindsay, Britney to name a few...
