Warning, ramble-y not too great post ahead.

I'm not one of these fabulously fashionable people who look efforstlessly cool/chic/hip every day. It's occured to me that I only dress in outfits I love when I'm feeling good. If I'm feeling down or tired or pissed off then I'll usually default to jeans and a hoodie or something similar.

I had a pretty lousy day at school yesterday, so this morning I naturally gravitated towards black trousers, a grey long sleeve tshirt and a grey hoodie. Trust me, I know that some people can do black and grey and look amazing, but I just looked dull and boring, I can tell you that. One friend even said I looked "blendy".

I suppose subconciously I wanted to fade into the background and have noone notice me and to let me justget on with it and not bother me in any way. That didn't work, and today I had one of the most horrific days ever at school. I'm usually loud and confident and happy and get along with everyone and everything's dandy, but this week I've really been knocked for six and basically I feel like crap.

But now I've made a decision. I'm not going to try to blend in, conciously or subconciously. I'm going to wear clothes I love, I'm going to make a huge effort and wear outfits I feel great in tomorrow, and all of next week. Hopefully if I dress in a happy and confident way my mood will follow suit.

I will of course have to do all that whilst conforming to our "smart office wear" uniform policy though... Maybe I'll just have to bend the rules...

  4. Blendy days are fine but it's when you pick yourself up and give yourself cheer...that's when you'll get happy happy!

  5. i'm like this but if i'm feeling bad, whatever i put on will feel bad. it's a shame when clothes have bad memories too and i'm quite superstitious that if something bad happens in an outfit, it's unlucky! can't wait to see your outfits
