Girl Crush - Florence Welch

I'm guessing most of my UK-based readers will know who Florench Welch is, but for those of you from overseas who might not, she's a singer from Florence and the Machine.

Not only is she an incredible musician, she's got great personal style, both on stage and off. A lot of her performance outfits are along the Lady Gaga-esque tiny hotpants and leotards line, but on Florence they seem a lot less contrived. Her outfits don't give off the "I'm batshit crazy" vibe that Lady G's do.

And I just love her hair. She's the sole reason for my ridiculously strong desire to dye my hair a really bright red right now.

Florence and the Machine recently missed out of the Mercury Music Prize for best album of the year, despite being the critic's favourite to win. Her debut album, Lungs, is one of the best records I've heard in ages, and is constantly on my ipod. If you haven't got it yet, go and buy/download it now. You won't regret it!

Here's the video for her new single, Drumming Song. Both the song and the video are fantastic. Take five minutes away from whatever you're doing right now and watch it.

  1. I've heard of her but don't really know much about her! I love the pics you chose, though - especially the sequins, feathers, glitter, and ruffles! Maybe you could use henna to dye your hair red/orange - it's only semi permanent...
