Meet my new love...Saturday, 16 January 2010
This is my new Alexander McQueen Legend bag. I love it to pieces! I'd been looking for a handbag for ages but not found one that really jumped out and grabbed me, but I just had to have this one. The little soldier and plane charms and the gothic hardware did it for me. These crappy photos don't do it justice at all. It's really beautiful and made of amazing embossed leather.
Even more when I think about what an absolute bagain it was. I got it at Biscester Village, which is an outlet shopping centre near Oxford. The RRP on this was £1195 and I got it for £209! Which is still really expensive considering my last handbag cost £35 from River Island, but this was a late Christmas present/bought with savings. Outlet shopping is the way forward.
If you live in the UK and haven't been to Biscester you should definitely go, they have all kinds of brands there from high-end highstreet to designers like McQueen and D&G. The Luella shop was particularly bargainous. Seriously, all of the bags, including classic Giselles etc were down from £400-£600 to £150-£175, and the clothing was really affordable too (but unfortunately none of the things I wanted were in my size!)
The details are fantastic on the bag (and the buckle doesn't look anywhere near as tarnished in real life!) but all the metal does mean it's really heavy, especially once I've got my purse/diary/camera/iPod/phone etc in there! It's totally worth it though!!!
I think it might be a bit of a "marmite" bag though, you'll either love it or hate it, so I'd love your opinions on it!
Also, on an unrelated note, Jasmine over at The Virtue of Style has written a post about her favourite blog headers, and has included The Fish Tank's. Go check out her blog (which has a cool header itself), it's really inspiring. Thanks Jasmine!
