Just some bits and pieces I wanted to mention which don't really fit into posts of their own.
Firstly, the super lovely Sherin from Hi Fashion is going to be doing a skydive in October to raise money for charity. That's right, jumping. out. of. a. PLANE. I think she's mental, but it's all for a good cause. The Winch is a charity set up "to inspire, challenge and affirm children and young people in building relationships, enriching community and fulfilling their potential." Pretty good stuff if you ask me.
So please, if you've got a couple of quid to spare (maybe forfeit your daily Starbucks for one morning and donate the money instead), please donate on her fundraising page here. Thank you!
Next up, Selina from Flying Saucer is writing a brilliant series of posts about interning in the fashion industry, which is a must read! You can read part 1 here and part 2 here. The articles are stuffed full of invaluable advice, and having just finished two internships, Selina knows what she's talking about!
Angels the Costumiers, whose Retro Sale I went to a few months back, have decided to open their massive warehouse for tours.
Angels produces costumes for film and television, and has won over 30 Best Costume Oscars, so this is a chance to see the costumes from loads of famous films and tv shows, including Star Wars, Titanic, Gladiator and Marie Antoinette. The tours are going to cost £20, which isn't cheap, but they're very extensive. You get to see all of the different sections of the business, including where bespoke costumes are made and altered for productions, the massive fancy dress section, authentic uniforms, jewellery and a tour of the main warehouse, which apparently houses 5 million garnments on 8 miles(!) of clothing rails. If you're into film and fashion, or especially if you're interested in costume design, I'd say this would be a really interesting trip. For more information and to book a tour pop over to the Angels website.
