Girl Crush - Karen Gillan (and more hair talk)Friday, 17 December 2010

Yet another red-haired girl crush (see previous posts on Florence Welch, Nicola Roberts and Paloma Faith,) I am a little obsessed yes! I'm just a bit jealous of people with naturally red hair because dyed red hair takes a fair bit of upkeep!
If you're not from the UK then chances are you won't have a clue who Karen Gillan is. She plays Amy Pond, the Doctor's assistant in Doctor Who, which is a really popular cult sci-fi tv show in the UK, about time-travel and outer space. (I'm making it sound really weird and rubbish, but it's actually amazing, promise! And Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, is a bit dishy!) She's funny, (she used to work on The Kevin Bishop Show), and she used to be a model.
Anyhow, Karen Gillan has great taste in clothes, which is the point of this blog post. I like how she's kind of quirky without her outfits ever looking costumey, and her style seems really natural, she looks comfortable in whatever she's wearing, it's not at all an affected look.
And once again, the hair. I just love her hair.
I'm still trying to find a more ginger-y red hair dye, I want a more orange colour. Gemma Hayley tipped me off about Bee Unique, which sells bright semi-permanent hair dyes in loads of colours. I was thinking about ordering a red and an orange and mixing them together to try and get the shade I want, but there are so many different shades of red and orange on the site I don't know which to get!
I've also been looking into henna, especially the Lush Caca Rouge henna. Henna is natural so it's a lot better for your hair, and my hair is in really bad condition because of the bleach I used before I went red. However, it's permanent and can't be removed even by hair colour remover products, so I'd have to grow it out if I ever decide to change my colour again. Dilemma!
If any of you have used henna, or have any dye recommendations please let me know! And if you've got any pictures that would be amazing!
Also, what do you all think of Karen Gillan's style?
