I love that pixie crop especially. Alas I definitely do not have the dainty features required to pull one off. (I have an unfortunate mixture of the noses from both of my parents' sides of the family. Both noses are obviously made up of very strong genes as 99% of the extended family are lumped with them respectively, and in my case they seem to have fought it out and come to an ugly truce... :P)

I've been planning on changing my hair colour up a bit this summer for a few months now. Originally I was going to try and get a more natural-but-not orange-y ginger-y red, like Paloma Faith for example. However, I then saw that Madame G from Baroque Boudoir had dyed her hair an incredible orange, and I fell in love with the colour. Seriously, how good does she look?

Images via Baroque Boudoir of course.
And the best part? She found a dye that can get your hair that colour without bleaching it first, which you normally have to do for really bright colours. My hair is still completely trashed at the ends from having bleached blonde hair last year, and it's taking forever to grow out, so there's no way I'm getting the stuff near my hair again.

I don't want acid/neon bright orange, but a slightly more toned-down version. I'm going to be graduating from uni this time next year, so I'm embracing what is potentially my last chance to have a slightly mental hair colour!

What do you think of orange hair? Would you try it? Have you ever dyed your hair a really bright colour?

P.s. Do you think you could pretty please watch the sponsored video at the top of the sidebar for me? I know it's about 2 minutes long but you can mute it and just ignore it. I'm a poor poor student and every little helps! Thanks guys!

  1. That's me up there! But my hair doesn't look like that just now :(
Need to top up my colour tomorrow - that's the downside - it does fade pretty quickly. But then again, I'm quite lazy and I'm sure most people 'top up' more often than me. Uupside is the condition of my hair. The gentle amount of bleach has left it still in really good condition.

    Go for it!!

  2. I'd say go for it :) I've had my hair red for a while but it's a dark red, and for a while now I've been thinking about going brighter but was worried about the bleaching process. I decided to take the plunge this week though and it is now bright red, and still in really good condition :)

  7. Go for it! If you want a milder orangey shade, you could buy an orange shade from Manic Panic or Stargazer or one of those goff brands and mix a blob in with your conditioner, then leave it on under a shower cap for a while. It diluted the colour strength but still gives a nice sheen, and has the added benefit of making your hair soft as flip!
Let us know how you get on!

  9. I actually think you'd really suit a pixie crop. It's just a bitch trying to grow it out again which is why I'd say, if you like to change up your hair regularly, not a great style. Literally been growing mine for a year and a half and it's still at my shoulders... But orange hair is lovely! x

  10. Beautiful. You're pretty enough to carry it off - can't wait to see it! You could always try henna, you can get a really bright orange from it and it is so much easier to look after than actual dye!

  13. Oh my, DO IT. It would like so freaking awesome. Although, your hair now is pretty amazeballs. I think this would be a better change than the black streaks because of the dreaded emo possibilities!I'm really hoping mine doesn't look emo!
Also, despite really wanting the blonde, I am aware that if I can get that done there's also the possibility of dying it blue... or pink... or purple... too many exciting possibilities!

  14. Amazing inspiration! Definitely go for it. Love this colour, sadly, it wouldn't suit my natural dark-tan skin colour. I'd just look trashy, haha. Looks lovely on fair-skinned lovelies like you, though!

  22. I am a little terrified of the idea of orange hair, but this is only because the one time I had it, it was an accident and it looked absolutely awful on me! I didn't think I could ever warm to the idea, but I do love the inspiration images above, especially the pixie cut!

  23. oooh I love the one at the top right, amazing and super orange!
I've only ever had a semi perm hair colour put on my hair and that was because my friend was training to be a hairdresser and needed models. I'm way too much of a wimp to go for something drastic but I would love to go for a Nicola Roberts look or Christina Hendricks look x

  25. USE HENNA POWDER! It actually makes your hair feel healthier and shinier too! Leave it in for 20-30 minutes longer than recommended for a really earthy bright orange. The plus side is it fades very naturally, so yucky roots aren't a problem. The downside is it can be a bit of a pain to wash out, and your hair will smell like clay/mud for about two days... but gorgeous, gorgeous color!
