The Look Show embodies everything I love about fashion. Yes, it’s the designers who create the trends we want to wear, but it’s the high street that makes fashion accessible to all. That’s the part of the fashion world I’m interested in, how the everyday British girl on a budget can afford to look just as stylish as celebrities and the mega-rich, as Look magazine proves every week. The Look Show is the ultimate symbol of the egalitarian nature of fashion that I so love, holding its own with its purely high street catwalk against the big-name designers at London Fashion Week.
I’m definitely a “Look” girl. I love pouring over catwalk pictures, taking inspiration from the designer collections each season, but then I'll interpret the trends in my own way with items of clothing I can afford, as can be seen in my "season planning" posts. Not to toot my own horn too much(!), but I think I prove it's possible to be fashionable on a budget and yet not be a clone of every other girl who shops on the high street.
Because of writing this blog, fashion has become an increasingly large part of my life, to the extent that I've now decided that I won't be happy unless I pursue a career in the fashion industry. Blogging from the front row of the Look Show would be such a dream for me, giving me a taste of the industry I want to be a part of, and helping me on the way to that dream career.
I've been writing The Fish Tank for four years now, building it up to the very best I can make it (and having it take over my life!) Winning the Look blogger competition would justify all the hours I've spent blogging when I should have been studying for my degree!
