Baggy, textured knits
I'm looking for the perfect long, loose, textured jumper, but it's proving quite hard to find. There are loads of nice knits in the shops at the moment but they all seem to be cropped! I like the RI jumper (top left), but it's £38, which is a bit too pricey for me! I'm going to scour my local charity shops next week and hope something turns up there.
I don't think the block metallic leather tops that were on the runways and are popping up in a few shops are really that workable. It must be quite hard to move in them surely? I want something a bit less in-your-face, lest I look like I'm wrapped in tinfoil. I've been looking for the silver knit jumper from New Look in stores, but I haven't found it. Might have to order online, but I hate paying P&P! All online shops need to be like ASOS with free shipping and returns! Metallic shorts are all over the place too and look quite fun and easy to tone down with a jumper and thick tights in the day, or dress up with heels at night. Saying that, I have about a million pairs of shorts already, so I'm not sure I can justify another pair! I'm going to see if you can get metallic fabric paint, and if so, I spy a DIY! As I think I've said before in my original AW catwalk inspiration posts, lurex tights would be the easiest way to work this trend into my wardrobe (and cheapest!) I'm trying to find some silver lurex ankle socks, but I'm not having much luck at the moment. Has anyone seen any?
Creepers or Chelsea boots? Or both? (I wish...) I think shoes are the easiest way to work the "mannish" trend that's apparently going to be around this season. I don't have the right "boyish" body shape to pull off a mannish silhouette, so I'll stick to the footwear.
I'd love a really shaggy (fake) fur coat for winter and I also love the quilted jackets that are everywhere. They're more of a "created by the highstreet" trend than a designer led one (although they were seen at Chanel,) which I don't normally go for, but I'm being sucked into this one. This Topshop one is perfect, but it's £55 which is silly money for what it is. The RI sheepskin waterfall cardigan (in the middle) is really unusual. It has knitted sleeves, so with the two sides of the leather it's got three different textures. Because I wear a lot of black I worry that it can look a bit boring, so I'm loving the "textures" that are "in" this season as they'll help keep things interesting.
Right, I have rambled for far too long and probably sound like a bit of an idiot now so I'll stop. What are you going to be buying for autumn? Let me know!
