Havaianas, makers of the world’s most famous flip-flops, are branching out and are launching a new range of espadrilles, available on the online store now. Go and check out the great range of colours and fabrics.
Personally, I’m not a big flip flop wearer, as I find they fall off my feet and trip me up, so I was really interested to hear about the new Origine Espadrille range. The new shoes are water resistant, making them perfect for our dreary British summers, and are probably more suitable for off-beach wear in Britain than flip-flops are. The idea is that the espadrilles can be worn in the city too, fitting in with Havaianas’ “Always Summer” motto.
To celebrate the launch, Havaianas went on a European Tour, travelling to the cities of Paris, Madrid, Lisbon and Milan, as well as stopping off in London, to create campaign videos. The London part of the tour was held in Hyde Park, where this really cool campaign video was filmed.
I love the concept, it’s very refreshing in a world of boringly similar ad campaigns you see for most brands. The participants, (all wearing Origine Espadrilles of course) sat in a circle, taking “action shots” of people leaping around in the middle. These pictures were then spliced together to create a Lomo Matrix effect, resulting in this fun stop-motion-esque video.
The best part is that Havaianas are carrying on the concept with a great competition. If you visit the Havaianas Facebook page and share a picture on the Facebook app of your own jump shot wearing the espadrilles, you could win a year’s worth of free Havaianas!
