Although all high street clothes shops take their inspiration from the catwalk to some extent, (“But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue” in The Devil Wears Prada anyone?) I’ve noticed that a lot more brands are introducing specific catwalk inspired collections. These “high-fashion inspired” ranges can often be a bit disappointing, however the new “Runway Collection” of fashionable clothing by Simply Be is definitely a hit with me. Where a lot of clothing retailers don’t go larger than a size 14 or 16, Simply Be has stepped in and delivered a plus size collection that is a great mixture of on-trend and classic.
My favourite items from the range are the contrast collar blouse, which is very Alexa, the red polka dot dress (a “Minnie Mouse” dress has been on my wish list for a looong time) and the gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana-inspired aubergine print dress, which is in a relaxed jersey style, making it far more wearable and versatile than any other inexpensive vegetable print dress I’ve seen. As Simply Be stock clothing from size 12 – 32, I’m keeping that one bookmarked for when I have money again and I’m going to hope the size 12 fits me!
There’s also a fun behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot for this range, and I love how smiley the model is! Makes a great change from the usual sour faces you see in product images!
