The Flamingo "Birthday Suit"

By Hand London flamingo Victoria blazer and Charlotte skirt

I made this 'suit' last year to wear on my birthday. It went down so well at work that I decided to crack it out again this year and start a 'birthday suit' tradition. If it looks familiar, it's because I shamelessly ripped off the example from the By Hand London Victoria blazer images. As soon as the BHL ladies released the Victoria pattern I knew I had to have it, and I also bought the Charlotte skirt pattern so I could make my very own flamingo suit. I initially just planned a bit on an homage as I didn't think I'd find the exact same flamingo print fabric, but when I came across it on Etsy I knew a knock-off was in the pipeline.

This is the cropped version of the blazer and I shortened the skirt a considerable amount from the pattern. The only issue with making it this short is that you can't put a vent in the back and so it's a little restrictive for walking in. Not too much, but energetic movements would not be encouraged.

In many ways it's completely ridiculous, and I'll admit I don't wear it all that often, but if you can't wear something bright pink and covered in flamingos on your birthday, when can you?
